X-Acto and Elmers Review + Giveaway!

UPDATE: CLOSED
CONGRATULATIONS LYSSA AND RACHEL
I was so happy when Elmer’s agreed to sponsor Mommy Does… I am a big fan of Elmer’s products, including X-Acto! You may have seen the many projects I completed using these products. If not? Check them out!

What I received to review….
X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors

What do I think about the products?
I like them! I mean really like them. Not one of the glue sticks was dried out when I opened the packages. The precision tip scissors and X-Acto swivel knife worked really great with the projects I chose to use them for. I liked the repositionable poster & picture glue stick but don’t have pictures of how I used it. Little Girl loved the disappearing purple  school glue, and I like that the purple and the gel school glue was easy to clean up. Little Girl felt independent using the School Glue sticks, and I really liked the convenience of the extra strength glue sticks. The glue dots were a new idea to me! I had never used them until I received them from Elmer’s. I have to say! I now know what all thee rage is about. There is no time wasted waiting for them to dry. They are simple to use, and even held up well to fabric!
The X-Acto scissors and swivel knife are extremely sharp, so I thought the plastic guards were a great addition to those products. And even the Glue-All wasn’t runny! Too many glues out there are runny and take forever to dry, and there’s always the risk of the glues bond. I didn’t worry at all about my Valentines Re-Vamp project! The Styrofoam ball was just as secure the night I completed the project, as the day I shipped it! I would buy these products in the future… especially the Purple Disappearing School Glue for Little Girl!

A little something for my Nuderma…

I’m not a card maker, and probably never will be!
The only skills I have are my creativity.
But, in spite of that, I don’t think I did half-bad.
I hope whomever gets my cards will be happy.

What do you think about them?

Quick DIY Menu Board

I’ve had so many crafts and projects I wanted to get completed, so I’m happy I’m finally able to get them posted! I have so much coursework and will be spending most the afternoon and night on it :( Boo! for that, anyways, here’s another lil somethin’, somethin’!

*Supplies Needed*
Frame
Paint
Paint Brush
X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors
Colored Paper or printed paper.
(Dollar Tree!)

1.Wipe Clean then paint your frame in color of choice.
2.Cut your paper to fit your card board backing.
(I used X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors)
3. Attach the paper to the card board backing.

When the Frame is dry,
insert the paper covered cardboard backing (with the glass too ;D).
I liked mine with no embellishments this time. It easier to clean
and I can change the pictured paper as needed!)

SA Finds and A Craft Challenge!

Crystals Craft Spot has a Monthly Challenge.

I wanted to take part, so my mom and I headed to our Salvation Army Store.
There’s not too much to choose from, well not really much at all.

Salvation Army Stores finds:
All this costed just $4.87!
2 frames
2 4T summer jumpers (with no stains)
1 6 ct. box of holiday Hallmark Bells (.99 ea. retail) 50 cents for all 6.
A Yellow Fabric and Sea foam Green Fabric, sisters Ploy and Ester.
NOW
 For the Challenge…
*Supplies Needed*
Old frame
Card stock
Fabric
X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors
Paints
Marker

Take the big frame and wipe it down with some type of cleaner (it was DUSTY!)
Paint it whatever color you want.
(With two kids I didn’t take a picture of me painting.)
Next, find an old calender page to make your grid.
(I don’t have a silhouette, but am taking donations ;D)
Cut out the calender blocks, or just cut out the whole week and just fill in the blocked lines later
(this was best since there was no white space between my blocks.)
I used my X-Acto Designer Series Craft Swivel Knife, read about that, here.
Do this for however many rows you want.
Use whatever color of card stock, fabric, or other colorful or subtle paper you have on hand.
My card stock was a light blue…
Cut it to a size that suits your needs.
I used my X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors to make nice clean cuts.
Lay your “grid” on top centered where you like.
And, trace!
Now, use a ruler to mark the center lines of the calender.
It was easy to just mark with the ruler once in the first open spot.
Since I only cut out 3 of the 5 lines, I eyeballed the two lined edges.
Now finish your “grid” using the ruler.
Now you can draw the line where your month goes…
Again, no silhouette and two children makes for a really sloppy (IMO) header.
I lined my picture frames backing (now they use a cheap cardboard, then it was a sturdy cardboard) with the pale yellow fabric from SA.
Then, I used Elmer’s Craft Bond Glue Dots to secure the fabric around the cardboard backing.
I then applied my card stock grid to the fabric…
By then my frame was dry, and it looked like this.
With my X-Acto Designer Series Precision Tip Scissors
I cut some of the same yellow fabric and some lace my mom gave me
and made rosettes and wrapped the lace around it.
And this is how it turned out!
I gave it to my mom as a gift…
I hope you like it Mom!
Tell me what you think!

X-Acto Designer Series Craft Swivel Knife- Review

Do you like to Craft? Do you get tired of having to use scissors for itty-bitty cutting jobs? I normally use scissors. Even those don’t always get the job done! They are sometimes bulky for the project and I might accidently cut the wrong thing. That’s a bummer…  When I craft, there are times when I need a better way to cut objects from cradstocks, paper, and sometimes, even cardboard. When I clip coupons, I do just that. Clip… well lots of clips, which I suppose is technically called clipping. How I loath that word. I clip for hours sometimes… Well, not anymore! I was so happy to review an assortment of Elmer’s and X-Acto products, among them was the
X-Acto Designer Series Craft Swivel Knife!

This bad-boy is a great tool. I’ve used it on multiple projects and just can’t get enough of it! I have another X-Acto Knife and sometimes I can’t get it to cut just right (my fault, not the products ;D) I really like the Swivel Knife. If I need to cut one way then the other, I don’t have to pick up the knife and reposition it. Its really user friendly and rotates 360 degrees. Now I can cut circles and curves with no problem at all. The blade is made from carbon steel, for reliability. The X-Acto Craft Swivel Knife also come with a safety cap which I love since I’m a but clumsy and don’t always pay attention to what I’m grabbing from my supplies. I haven’t cut myself yet!

When I needed to cut my coupons last week, I used the X-Acto Designer Series Craft Swivel Knife, and it cut my clipping time (no pun intended) by almost 40 minutes. (Pardon my use of a newspaper as a cutting board, I have one now but didn’t then ;D) And just look how precise the cut is! This is a double coupon page and it went right through both with no problem! Where has this tool been my whole adult life?
Bottom line?
I really like this tool, it’s saved me alot of time, and hassle I can put towards other Mommy Duties in need of my attention (yes, hassle is involved.) I would recommend this product to anyone who likes to be precise in their crafting, or clipping coupons! It’s really sharp, so be sure you don’t go out and buy this for a child!
That wouldn’t be a good idea. I’m sure it would work great for Scrapbookers and for those who love to work with pictures or cardmaking. I haven’t used it on fabric, though I will now that I have a cutting mat! I also used this tool to make greeting cards and that worked out great for the smaller items I needed to make!
More on that… to come!
While I was povided an assortment of X-Acto and Elmer’s products to review, that in no way influenced my opinion.
The opinions stated are my own and may differ from yours.
I was not obligated to write a positive review,
However, I liked the product enough to write a positive review and share my experiance with you all.
